Aquitaine

Bordeaux, capital of the region of Aquitaine, is an elegant city with cobblestone streets and fine 18th century architecture. The region is known for the famous Bordelais vineyards. The historic village Saint-Emilion is a wonderful stop offering wine shopping and medieval sites to visit. The enchanting Arcachon bay is known for its locally grown tasty oysters, beautiful sandy beaches and pine forests but also for the chic peninsula of Cap Ferret and the highest dune in Europe (Le Pilat).
